What You Should Know about Belmar Beach in New Jersey

Belmar Beach NJ is a clean beach located at the 11th Avenue in New Jersey. It was ranked on the top position as having the cleanest water according to a report by the Natural Resources Defense Council. Every day, there are staff coming to the beach to clean it.

Belmar Beach is a paid beach and the entrance fee costs $8 for adult. If you are a member of the military, you can enter free of charge. Children under 15 years of age can also access the beach free of charge. You can get season passes to the beach from a nearby town.

Belmar Beach has a lot of small pebbles and shells so it may not be comfortable to walk on it. The water is shalow and you can see people along the beach at 5 – 6 feet depth. There are bathroom, rinsing facility, and garbage cans around.

If you decide to come in the weekend, you should arrive early to secure a good spot with your blanket. Ideally, you should arrive before 10 am in the morning. The beach is opened at 9:30 am and gets crowded in the noon. There are benches that you can sit and get a clearer view of the sea.

Belmar Beach is a nice place for families with young kids as there is a playground. While here, you can watch fishing charter setting out to the sea. You can also frequently see sea birds like terns, and oystercatchers around. There are strong undertow in the water so you must be careful when going into the water.

Throughout the day, there are alert lifeguards watching the swimmers in the water. Aside from swimming, you can also go surfing. There are a lot of people setting up big and small tents on the site. If the tent is set up in front, it will block your views.

Belmar Beach has a lot of convenience stores located around. Some of these stores are 7-11 store, Dunkin Donuts and restaurants that offers dining with ocean views. You can acharter a fishing boat to go deep sea fishing on this beach.

At Belmar Beach, there is a long boardwalk that is made from wood and plastic fibers. The board is several miles long and extend from Spring Lake to Bradley Beach and Asbury Park. Recently, it has received a renovation due to some damages it endured from Hurricane Sandy. You can do activities like strolling, running, jogging, exercising and relaxing on the boardwalk. The boardwalk is wide and can accommodate a lot of foot traffic.

If you look to the west side, you will see beautiful beach front homes. The beach is located on the east side. Vendors frequently line up along the boardwalk to sell food. Many polices regularly patrol around the area. Cycling is not allowed on the boardwalk in between May – October. Dog walking is also not allowed. There is a parking lot next to the boardwalk and it costs $2 per hour to park there.
